This site is a resource for researchers into timetabling problems, particularly academic timetabling, and arose from research into academic timetabling at the University of Melbourne.
For exam timetabling (our initial area of interest), there were some publicly available data and benchmarks, but less than needed. Discussion with other researchers in exam timetabling at the 4th PATAT conference encouraged us to make additional data available.
Exam timetabling researchers are encouraged to visit the "Public Data" section, where there are some exam timetabling data sets from the University of Melbourne that contain some features not available in most other publicly available data sets.
Although the exam timetabling section now has a generous selection of data, other areas are very thin. This is both to the origin of the database (reflecting our initial interests), and to the paucity of publicly available data with benchmarks for other areas of timetabling.
We would like to provide access to publicly available data and benchmarks for other areas of timetabling. Links to data that you know about and suggestions for the improvement of this web site will be very welcome.
